“L’après-midi d’un faune” and “Vortex” by Compagnie Non Nova

by Compagnie Non Nova
performed on 7th-10th June 2017
Department of Dramatic Arts, Faculty of Arts in collaboration with Embassy of France in Thailand presented the contemporary dances “L’après-midi d’un faune” and “Vortex” by Compagnie Non Nova. Both dances had been performed worldwide, e.g., in London International Mime Festival, but had yet to be performed in Southeast Asia. Compagnie Non Nova is the first national artists to perform at Sodsai Pantoomkomol Centre for Dramatic Arts at the beginning of 2011 before its official opening ceremony.

Contemporary dances “L’après-midi d’un faune” and “Vortex” are rare aerial ballet choreographed by Phia Ménard using wind as key element, questioning our identity and the vulnerability we keep hidden beneath our façade. The dances were performed in the round, integrating object theatre, nouveau cirque and dance.
