Bangkok Notes

In academic year 2018, Japan Foundation in collaboration with Department of Dramatic Arts, Faculty of Arts presented the play “Bangkok Notes,” adapted from ‘Tokyo Noties” by Dr. Sawita Diteeyont, a lecturer at Department of Dramatic Arts, directed by Prof. Oriza Hirata from Tokyo University of the Arts who has held workshops on scriptwriting and directing, and has brought “Tokyo Notes,” “Sayonara,” and “Metamorphosis (Android Version)” to Faculty of Arts’ theatre and Sodsai Pantoomkomol Centre for Dramatic Arts in 2004, 2006, 2012, and 2015 respectively.

“Bangkok Notes” shows the audience the slow dissolution of family relationship and human relation in society through events happening in a museum in the near future. The play is performed by students, graduates, and graduate students from the department, along with professional actors from various Thai theatre groups. Additionally, “Bangkok Notes” celebrated the 130th anniversary of Thailand-Japan diplomatic relations. The performance was chosen by Bangkok Theatre Network to be the official opening performance for Bangkok Theatre Festival 2017 on Thursday 2nd November 2017 at Sodsai Pantoomkomol Centre for Dramatic Arts.
